Frequently Asked Questions
What is Furlandia?
Furlandia is a furry convention, where enthusiasts of anthropomorphic animals gather to celebrate the art and media that is at the heart of our community.
When does it take place?
Furlandia occurs once a year on Memorial Day Weekend, from Friday to Sunday. For 2026, this is May 22nd through 24th.
What is the age rating of the event?
Furlandia is a PG-13 convention. Furlandia also hosts adult panels at night, which are available to adult attendees after their age has been verified.
How old do I need to be to attend?
Furlandia has no minimum age requirement! Furlandia is open to all ages, whether you're two months old or ninety two years old.
For attendees under the age of thirteen, we require parental supervision. For attendees under the age of eighteen, we simply require parental consent. See the Registration page for more details.
Additionally, there is a curfew of 10:00pm for minors.
Do I need a fursuit (costume) to attend?
No! You do NOT need a fursuit to attend the convention.
Will my badge be mailed to me?
No. Badges can only be picked up at the convention at the Registration desk. You will need a photo ID to pick up your badge.
In 2025, we experimented with mailing out badges to qualifying attendees. Unfortunately, it did not improve the wait times for on-site badge pickup, and several related security concerns were raised in the process. As a result, we decided not to offer badge mailing. Instead, we are focusing our efforts on improving the on-site badge pickup experience with more registration stations, Thursday badge pickup, and a new, efficient credit card processing system.
Is the hotel the same as last year?
No. As much as we loved the Sheraton Hotel (and they loved us), we outgrew the hotel space and needed to a larger venue. This year, we have moved to the Hyatt Regency Portland.
Is there a deposit when reserving the hotel room?
Please see the Hotel page for more details about hotel reservations.
How much is parking?
Please see the Hotel page for more details about parking at the event.
Do I need to book a hotel room to attend?
No, you do not need to book a hotel room to attend, but see the next question.
Why should I stay at the hotel?
We hear this a lot from people. We know that saving money is nice, but having a safe and convenient space to relax or rest makes everything better whilst you are at the convention. Your commute time between your hotel room and relaxing is right there without having the hassle of finding a new place to park the next day.
It also makes the whole event feel less hectic and time-crunched. Besides all that, every room booked in our block is a huge help to us financially, as it brings down the cost of hosting the con (which keeps membership prices reasonable). Can I sleep in the hotel lobby or parking lot?
No, we cannot have people sleeping in the lobby or parking lot for security reasons. Please do not attempt to do so. Any individual caught doing so will get removed from the premises.
Can I leave my belongings in Con Ops?
No. Con Ops, or any convention space for that matter, is NOT a place to store your personal belongings.
Is there a place to store my belongings?
If you need to store your belongings while attending the convention, please leave them in your hotel room. If you do not have a hotel room, consider asking a trusted friend who does.
Is there a fursuit lounge?
Yes, there is a fursuit lounge, which we call the "Headless Lounge". It is a space to get in or out of fursuit, as well as to take a break if you're overheating in suit. All who wear any furry accessories (fursuits, tails, etc.) are welcome there. There are fans, water jugs and lots of space to relax until you are ready to go. This room is okay for one fursuiter and one handler only.
Will there be an art show?
Although it has been requested by many, Furlandia 2026 will not have an art show primarily due to the logistics of moving to a new hotel.
Why are single-day tickets unavailable during pre-registration?
Weekend attendees get first chance in case the venue fills up during preregistration.
How do I pay for myself and a friend?
If you are paying by credit or debit card, you will need to perform separate transactions for each attendee.
If you are paying by check or money order, simply mail a check or money order with the total amount for all attendees and all of the relevant mail-in forms together.
How do I register for myself and my children?
This has been a common question. Mistakenly, a parent will create an account for themselves, and then sign into their existing account and change all of their registration information to that of the child.
Please see the registration page for details on how to properly register families.
I'm a caregiver; do I need to register?
Every individual who is entering the convention space must register. However, we offer free attendance for caregivers providing services for another attendee. Simply follow the steps to register, and then once you get to the payment page, you can stop there. Then, send an email to registration@furlandia.org and provide your name and email, the name of the attendee you’re providing caregiver services to, and any relevant documentation confirming your caregiver status.
I had some really cool photos taken of me, where do I find them?
One of the best places to find convention photos is on FurTrack. Many furry photographers will upload the photos they have taken to FurTrack and tag them with the particular event and year.
Others may post to other social media, including our Telegram chat, Bluesky, Twitter/X, Instagram and more.
Is there a minor curfew?
Yes, there is a curfew for minors that starts at 10:00pm each night.
Is it okay to wear fetish gear at the event?
Please view the dress code in the Code of Conduct.
If I lost or found an item, where would I go?
The convention's lost and found is located in Con Ops. Please check there for lost items first. The hotel front desk may also have obtained lost items.
If you have found an item, please take it to Con Ops and do not leave it with the hotel.
Is there a place for volunteers to crash if they do not have a room?
No. If volunteers need a place to relax for an hour after a shift, there is a staff lounge available. If you need to crash for longer, either find a friend with a room or take an Uber or Lyft home.
Can I sign up to volunteer at the convention?
Yes! While we strongly encourage anyone interested in volunteering to submit an application ahead of time, we accept volunteers who apply on site. If you would like to volunteer at the convention, please head to the Volunteer Desk and let them know you'd like to volunteer.
Can I attend convention planning meetings even if I am not staff?
Of course! Every so often, we host open volunteer meetings where anyone who is interested in volunteering can join. We will post announcements on our social media prior to each meeting.
Is it okay to smoke or vape at the event?
In regards to cigarette smoking or vaping, you are only allowed to do so outside of the hotel. You must be at least 10 feet away from all doors and windows to the hotel. Please be courteous to others and deposit cigarette butts into ash trays that are available for your use.
In regards to the use of marijuana, it is prohibited by the hotel and state law prohibits the use of marijuana in public spaces. If you are found using marijuana on or around the event space, you will be removed from the event.
I have an issue with another attendee, where do I go?
If another individual is misbehaving and violating the Code of Conduct, whether that’s harassment, lack of proper clothing, or any other reason, please notify the event staff or Con Ops immediately. Please do not ask hotel staff for assistance or confront the other individual yourself.
Where can I go to get answers to any other questions I have?
You are always welcome to email us if you have any questions. Please see the About page for each department’s email.
