Beat Saber Tournament

Red to blues and blue to red, we're looking for red from overhead; dodging bombs and walls galore, thinking that you can get the high score? Beat Saber comes to Furlandia in tournament form! If you think you've got what it takes, then we encourage you to sign up. The winner will receive a voucher for free attendance next year!

The tournament will start on Friday, May 24th, 2024 at 7:00pm PDT. It is scheduled to run for two hours, but may run as long as needed.

To sign up for the Furlandia 2024 Beat Saber Tournament, please fill out this form.

Sign-ups will close Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at 11:00pm PDT. Depending on availability, walk-ins may or may not be permitted.

Setup

This tournament will be bracket-style, with two levels: Expert and Expert+. Each round will have two players competing against each other, with players grouped together by music genre, map tech and other preferences as much as possible. The Expert players will play in separate rounds from the Expert+ players, until there is one player left, in which they will move on and compete with Expert+ players.

The winner of each round will be determined by points. No Fail mode will be enabled, which cuts a player's score in half if they "fail" rather than stopping the song.

There will be two stations, one with the Valve Index and one with the Oculus Quest. We will do our best to accommodate headset preferences, but we may not be able to do so in the later rounds. We recommend that players use contacts instead of glasses for the best experience.

We will have a projector screen showing the first station's screen, as well as speakers to play the music, so that both other participants and spectators may watch. We've ensured that the latency between stations is small enough that the other stations can play while listening to the audio from only one system.

All participants must treat all equipment with great care. If a participant damages any equipment, they will be disqualified from the tournament. If a participant damages any equipment intentionally, their membership will be revoked and they will be removed from the convention.
