About Furlandia

Portland is a town where bicyclists have rights, where we care if it’s local, and where the wildest dreams of the 1890s are alive and well. We’re used to the strange and wonderful here, but this Spring, an unassuming hotel a stone’s throw from the Willamette River will host a spectacle to surprise even the “Keep Portland Weird”-est Portlander: a technicolor menagerie of animals walking on two legs, creating art, playing games, dancing & performing, and raising money for animal welfare.

Portland’s anthropomorphic arts fans finally have a convention to call their own: Furlandia 2013 is May 10-12 at PSU’s University Place Hotel & Conference Center. Orchestrated by an assembly of local furs and veteran geek/fandom con organizers, Furlandia’s first year goals are to make a substantial charitable donation to Portland Animal Welfare Team, throw an expectation-shattering local all-ages event, and put Portland’s furry community where it belongs: on the map!

In the lead-up to Furlandia, watch our blog and Twitter & Facebook accounts for news about pre-convention events to whet your appetite. To support the convention, pre-register online or attend one of our fundraisers (announcements to come). To participate more closely, submit your programming ideas or email admin@furlandia.org about volunteering as con crew/street team.

The dream of the furries is alive in Portland!
