Code of Conduct (Acceptable Use Policy)

General Conduct

Please use common sense and respect other people's right to enjoy the event. Remember that any activity which is illegal by municipal, county, state, or federal statute, law, or regulation outside the event is also illegal during the event. Event staff will ask you to stop any observed illegal activity. If the illegal activity continues or is particularly dangerous or offensive, event staff will report it to hotel security and the appropriate authorities.

While in public or convention spaces, attendees are expected to maintain a "PG-13" standard of conduct. Repeat offenders may have their membership suspended or even revoked. Please also note that event staff reserves the right to deny entry to anyone, and you may be asked to leave at any time without warning.

Badging Policy

Furlandia ensures that each member receives both a lanyard and at least one type of membership badge. Your proof of membership is defined as your current-year badge issued by the convention and must be clearly visible at all times during the event. Event staff may request to see proof of membership at any time. Staff may deny you access to events or convention space if you do not have proof of membership.

All Furlandia-issued badges remain the property of RainFurrest Anthropomorphics International, Inc. (RAIn Inc., the organisation that produces Furlandia) for the duration of the convention and must be surrendered upon request.

Identification Policy

As previously mentioned, all attendees (in and out of costume) are required to have their convention badge clearly visible at all times while in event space. The event badge must not be obscured by custom badges and must remain outward-facing so the name is visible.

Occasionally, hotel staff will ask costumers to "lift your head" when ordering food or alcohol, requesting services, or communicating with hotel staff. Please be courteous when interacting with hotel staff and comply with their requests. If you have a conflict with a hotel staff member, remove yourself from the situation and seek assistance from a Furlandia staff member. DO NOT antagonize the hotel staff, they are our friends and allies.

Any member entering adult programming areas must present a valid government-issued photo ID in addition to current-year proof of membership. By entering adult programming areas, you agree to "lift your head" for an identification check when requested by hotel or Furlandia staff and to abide by the posted rules of behaviour for adult events.

Media Policy

As per our policy, staff has decided not to allow ANY media coverage at the event without PRIOR approval. Attendees purchasing a membership agree not to act as media agents in any way, shape, or form while attending our event. Making photographic, audio, or video recordings of any convention event for investigative or commercial purposes is strictly forbidden.

Hotel

As a convention attendee, you are a guest of the hotel and must abide by the hotel's rules and policies whenever you are on the premises. If you are unsure whether something is allowed, the Hotel Front Desk will be able to assist you. This is NOT a case of "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission."

If you are expelled from the hotel for violating its rules, you immediately forfeit your event membership, must surrender your badge, and will receive NO REFUNDS.

You are personally responsible for any damage caused to hotel property by you, your minor children, any pets you bring, or guests you have in your room. Event space and the hotel's public spaces may not be used as sleeping areas.

Be mindful that attendees are also ambassadors of the fandom and should be aware that their actions and behaviour represent the whole of the fandom while attending Furlandia, in the hotel and other locations hosting Furlandia attendees.

Dress Code

All visitors to the hotel in common areas (e.g. lobby and hotel corridors) must be covered from the shoulders to the thighs. Violations of this policy will result in denial of access to event space. If you are unsure whether your attire meets the dress code, please ask a staff member for guidance.

Further to these guidelines, attire typically associated with adult-only settings, such as harnesses or pony tack not worn over a fursuit or clothing that otherwise satisfies the dress code, latex or spandex suits, or any attire that emphasises or suggests swimsuit-area body parts is permitted only in appropriate age-restricted panels or events.

Shoe Policy

Shoes are required while in the common areas of the hotel (e.g. lobby and ground floor corridors). No shoes, no service—no access to the event space.

Harassment and Assault

Harassment is defined as any behaviour that alarms or intentionally annoys another person. This includes making unwanted physical contact, following someone through a public area without a legitimate reason, or threatening to physically assault someone.

Please remember that if you approach someone and they tell you "no" or ask you to leave them alone, your interaction with them is over. If you continue to bother them after they have asked you to stop, your actions may be grounds for a harassment complaint.

If you feel that you are being harassed or have been assaulted, please report the matter IMMEDIATELY to event staff.

This is also the place to note that COSTUME IS NOT CONSENT. Even if someone is dressed in an alluring or provocative manner, it is NOT an invitation to touch, grab, or make inappropriate or unwelcome comments or gestures.

Weapons

Bladed weapons (such as daggers or swords) and toy firearms are acceptable provided they have been peace-bonded by event staff. Functional airsoft guns are never acceptable as props, whether loaded or unloaded. Water guns and "Silly String"-type products are NOT permitted due to the potential for damage to costumes, venue property, and other attendees' belongings.

Any drawing, open carry of firearms, displaying, brandishing, or making threatening gestures with any weapon or firearm, whether real or replica, is cause for immediate expulsion from the event. The only exceptions are prearranged demonstrations or events with the permission of the event coordinators, or when posing for photographs (please use your best judgment).

Under-age Members

Minors under the age of 13 must be accompanied at all times by a paid member who is a parent, legal guardian, or an adult designated by their parent or guardian to be responsible for them.

For minors ages 13 through 17, a responsible adult must be on site and available to be contacted at all times.

All minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Violations and Appeals

Violations of these policies will be handled by event staff as deemed appropriate. Violators will be asked to cease and desist. Memberships may be suspended, revoked, or have a ban of up to 390 days imposed.

Two members of the Executive Committee (one of whom must be the Convention Chair) are required to revoke a membership. Membership revocations are final; however, a ban may be appealed to the RAIn Board of Directors. Decisions made by a majority of the Board of Directors are final.

Indemnity

Anyone who accepts a Furlandia membership or badge agrees to indemnify and hold harmless RAIn/Furlandia from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual's activities at Furlandia, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of Furlandia. As a condition of membership, everyone attending Furlandia is required to abide by the rules set forth in this document for the entire duration of the convention.

Code of Conduct Updates

The current version of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), also known as the Code of Conduct (CoC), is considered to be the CoC in effect during the convention. The AUP/CoC may change as we get closer to the convention. By agreeing to the AUP/CoC, you will also agree to any future changes.
