Attendance by Minors

Parents/guardians acknowledge all of the following when they permit their minor children to attend Furlandia:

All attendance policies are in effect for all attendees of Furlandia regardless of age. Minors may attend Furlandia in the company of either their parent/guardian or a temporary designated guardian; guardians must be able to accurately answer the question, “where is your minor”, at any time. Furlandia’s venue is not a child care facility and Furlandia’s organizers, partners, participants, and attendees are not child care providers. At no time is any party affiliated with Furlandia responsible for anyone’s children. Unaccompanied children are not permitted at Furlandia.

Ages 0-14

Minors aged 14 and under may only attend Furlandia in the company of a parent/guardian, and must be registered on-site.

Ages 15-17

Unaccompanied minors over the age of 14 may attend Furlandia if these requirements are met:

  • The minor’s parent/guardian registers the attendee on-site, in person, at Furlandia, and leaves reliable contact information with the organizers.
  • Another registered Furlandia attendee over the age of 18 is empowered by the guardian to act as a temporary guardian; the minor attendee is permitted at Furlandia as long as the temporary guardian is also within the convention space.
  • The minor will not attempt to circumvent any age restriction measures in place at the convention, and will not smoke, drink alcohol, or commit any crimes, including possessing controlled substances. Doing any of the above will result in ejection for both the minor and the temporary guardian, full explanation of circumstances to the minor’s parent/guardian, and potential police involvement.

The “This Is an Actual Responsibility” Rule

If the guardian enters a private hotel room unaccompanied by the minor attendee, this will be considered abandonment of an unsupervised minor in the convention space and both will be ejected.

The “Don’t Take a Kid Into Your Room” Rule

With the common-sense exception of any guest room rented by the minor’s parent/guardian or temporary guardian, if a minor attendee enters another attendee’s private hotel room unaccompanied by the guardian, all three will be ejected and police may be called.
