Dance Competition Rules

Divisions

  1. There will be three divisions: Fursuit Solo, Fursuit Group, and Open. Open division is for those who wish to compete without a fursuit.
  2. All previous year’s winners are eligible to compete.
  3. Applicants may compete in more than one class.
  4. Order of performance in each division is random.
  5. If there are more than ten performers in any division, then that division will be split into two rounds: Preliminary and Final.

Performance & Judging

  1. Each performance will be evaluated according to Technique, Character and Entertainment.
    • Up to 20 Points - Character
    • Up to 20 Points - Technique
    • Up to 50 Points - Entertainment
  2. Performances will be scheduled in four minute slots: 1 minute to enter stage, 2 minutes to perform, 1 minute to exit.
  3. NO PROPS ALLOWED.
  4. There will be between 3 and 5 judges.
  5. The final score will be derived from averaging the points from all judges. Only the top three scores will be announced.

Awards

  1. Medals will be awarded to the three highest scoring performers in each division at the conclusion of the dance competition. 1st Place - Gold, 2nd Place - Silver, 3rd Place - Bronze
  2. Audience members will have opportunities to vote for Audience Choice awards, such as:
    • Most Comedic Performance
    • Most Impressive Performance
    • Most Amazing Music, etc.
    • Best in Show
  3. Audience Choice awards will be announced during closing ceremonies.

No penalties will be given, however the convention chair and or our board of directors may disqualify any performer for lewd, disrespectful or inappropriate content or costumes. Disqualifications may occur at anytime before or during the dance competition. Any performer who is late for his/her/their scheduled slot are automatically disqualified. The dance competition coordinator will issue warnings or advisories for any issues that may result in disqualification.

All applicants must submit their music prior to May 6, 2016. Music or samples of music originally released with a Parental Advisory label will not be permitted. CLEAN MUSIC ONLY.

Schedule of performances will be posted immediately following opening ceremonies. All performers must report to the Mt. Hood ballroom 15 minutes prior to their performance.

It is vital that all competing dancers pre-register! No late entries will be permitted.
